The School
Day
School times are 8.50a.m to 11.50 a.m. and 12.50 to 3.00 p.m.
Children should not be left at school before 8.40 a.m. Doors are unlocked
between 8.40 a.m. to 9.10 a.m. and 2.55 to 3.20 p.m. If you need to come into
school at any other time, press the intercom and you will be answered.
Attendance
and punctuality
It is really important to get your child to school each day, and on time. Missing
just a few minutes each day adds up to a lot of lost learning time over the
year!
If your child is ill, please phone to let us know before 10 a.m. if possible.
If your child has a doctors, dentist or hospital appointment please get a pass
from the office.
Dinners
Your child may stay to school dinner. It costs £1.92 each day (£9.60
for the week). Dinners need to be paid in the office each Monday morning.
Children can bring a packed lunch or go home for dinner if they like.
Free School Meals
Please see Mrs Maxted in the office to find out how to apply. Your child cannot
have free school meals until you have a letter from Howden House.
It is really important to sort this authorisation out as soon as possible.
Milk
Milk is free until your child gets to 5 years old. If your child is NOT entitled
to free school meals, milk has to be paid for from their 5th Birthday.
We will send you a letter telling you how much you have to pay.
Toys and sweets
No toys should be brought from home. They can get lost, stolen or broken.
Children do not need to bring sweets or crisps. We have free fruit at playtime
to help keep our school healthy!
Clothes and
bags
Write your child’s name in their coat, clothes and lunch bag. School cannot
pay for anything that get lost or stolen.
PE
Children can bring shorts for PE if they want, but they do not have to.
Toilets
The children in the Foundation Stage classrooms use the nursery toilets and
those just outside the office. Children are taken on a quick tour around the
school so they know where they are going and we always make sure they go with
a friend.
Security
The doors into school are on an intercom which is answered when you buzz from
the outside.
School Uniform
We have a uniform of plain black trousers or a skirt,
Plain white polo shirt and red sweater or fleece with the school logo embroidered
onto it. They are available to buy in the school office.
Jewellery
We advise parents not to send children to school wearing jewellery. School cannot
pay for any jewellery that gets lost or stolen.
Medical Needs
If your child had any medical requirements e.g. asthma, diet etc. please let
us know. There are several first aiders in school. They will help your child
with their inhalers in school. We cannot allow children to bring any other medicines.
Please talk to the Foundation Stage Two staff about your child’s needs.
Special Needs
If you are worried about your child’s learning or behaviour, please talk
to one of the FS Unit teachers who will try to help, however big or small the
issue seems to you. Kay in the Nursery and Carys in school are able to give
advice on Special Needs issues.
Home/School
Agreement
Please sign the home school agreement and give it to the class teacher.
